Finding Yourself a Name.

The day arrived, and the sun stood high in the sky. The snow that was there melted from the treetops. With Shera opening her eyes, she looked to her left, and sat beside her was the blue Tiefling watching over her. Well, at least he was, his chin resting on his chest, his arms crossed, and his legs folded, sleeping.
Shera sits up, waking up Samson. They both rubbed their eyes, with Shera stretching, then, soon after, she looks around the tarp, seeing her child still sleeping soundly. Smiling, she looks at Samson, then leans over to him, kissing him on the lips and asking, “You stayed up all night watching over me?”
Samson says nothing, only grunting in agreement, smiling and placing his forehead on hers. Then, he gets up and goes to their child, attempting to shake her awake, grunting her name. Shera then, rather loudly, says, “Kaira! Time to get up.”
Hearing her mother's voice, she sits up quickly, shouting, “Mammy, you're back!” She then runs to Shera, giving her a massive hug.
Shera looks at Samson as he looks back at her. They both start smiling. Kaira looks up at Shera, remarking, “Did you get a present for me? You promised you would!"
Shera still smiling responds, “no darling, I didn't sorry love.”
They all get ready to go outside, Shera puts on a Leine still wearing trousers from the night before, with Samson preferring to have less on his chest having a loose tunic and a kilt that led below his knees. Kaira dressed in clothes a bit too big for her, wearing a Leine also, and trousers under that, shoes made of leather and rope.
Making Kaira brush her teeth and bathed her, with what water they had left. While outside still sat the human watching the camp, with Angus still trying to stay awake, angry that they would let a human into this camp, their home, and all the human did was just sit there, not moving a muscle.
Birds chirping and bees collecting the pollen from the flowers while one fly flew around Angus with him trying to smack it and getting annoyed, he runs after it but as he runs after the fly it gave him the slip landing on the tarp watching the human.
Meanwhile, Samson walked out of the tarp first, then Shera comes out holding Kaira, Kaira eyes widen seeing the human, with Shera explaining, “don't worry darling, that human there is a nice one.”
Shira whispers to Kaira saying "I summoned him."
Her eyes widen in shock saying "cool." she looks back at the human. Noticing his eyes, she points at the human saying, “is he’s sleeping? his eyes are closed.”
Now noticing she narrow's her eyes in anger, she hands Kaira to Samson and walks to the human, with the human looking at her as she walks up close, putting her hands on his shoulder shaking it saying, “you awake?” rather loudly.
Nodding his head the human responding “been awake all night.”
Again, she narrowing her eyes, she says “but your eyes are closed?”
Slightly shocked he rases his eyebrows saying “really, I can still see perfectly fine, if it means anything, the other one over there was up as well all night too.”
Shera stays silent, turning around going back back to her family ready to eat so they all sat down with Shera bringing out bread cutting it up into slices with her grabbing water for Kaira.
Seeing that the human wasn't coming over to eat, Kaira stands up and walks slowly to the human, Shera was about to get up, but Samson held her arm, shaking his head, as if to say "let it happen", so reluctantly she sat back down, but kept a steady eye on them if there was any trouble.
In fear, she walks up a few steps away from the human, he simply stares, well what Kaira believed to be at her, she steady's her determination and takes a few more steps until she was arm distance away from him, she mutters “are you not coming to eat?”
Shaking his head he gives a smile “I wasn't ordered to, so.”
Surprised she looks at Shera with Kaira asks, “mam can he come over to eat?”
Nodding her head to say that's ok, Kaira excitedly grabs his hand and pulls him off the stone rather forcibly nearly making fall, bringing him to the campfire, Kaira then tells him to sit and he does rather robotically. He looks at each person as they ate, him deciding not to eat until they finished, like it was in grand in him to do so.
Noticing that the human wasn't eating Shera says, “eat boy, if you're hungry.”
The human’s stomach growled, so, he puck up the last slice of bread and starts to eat, seeing as the rest has ate there fill, as he ate, Angus arrived back, tired and frustrated, seeing the human sitting with the family, in disgust he scoffs, walking in his own tent attempting to go to sleep.
Kaira looks at each person sitting around the fire, seeing the tension building as no one wanted to speak, as they where unsure on what to do or say to this human, wanting to break the silence she utters, “what's your name?” which made him stop eating and looked at Shera.
Shera saying, “you can speak freely, can't you?”
Pausing for a moment the human thinks, unable to find his name. Kaira tilts her head waiting for an answer. Eventually the human silently the human murmurs, “I don't have one.”
Excitedly Kaira says, “then, then we will have to think of one.”
As Kaira starts to think of names, sprouts out a few name that didn't never, Shera stays silent as Kaira says a few more, like Murphy, Neka and Nesbit, yet none looked like they would suit him.
Getting up Shera says to the human “once you're finished eating, you follow me.” walking into the forest.
Samson hands the human a pouch of water, gesturing him to drink a bit, which he does, the human once finished, hands it back to Samson and walks off, to the surprised of both, the human walked normally despite his eyes being closed.
He walks of in the direction Shera went, the fly seeing this, decides following him, Samson looks at Kaira razing his eyebrows to muttering "what do you want to do?"
Thinking for a moment, she gives a smile, knowing where this is going, she utters "i want to train."
Samson gets up and they both walking the opposite direction of where Shera and the human went. After a far distance from the camp, they stopped next to a river where Kaira stood looking into the water, seeing many fish float by.
Samson looks around the base of the trees finding two wooden sticks, each length the of his arm, with those where found, he walks behind Kaira tapping her shoulder, as she stood enamored by the fish in the water.
Looking at her father, she grabs the stick and starts to play fight happily.
Meanwhile the human walk in the direction of Shera with him coming out in an open part of the woods. Where the human stopped in the centre of the open area, itching the top of his head. Shera stand on a tree branch, taking a breath, see then leaps from it trying to attack him with one swing.
As she swung down, the human rolled out of the way, smiling with surprise Shera tells the human to grab a weapon.
Nodding his head doing as he was comanded, he decides to go for a wooden staff. seeing a stick stuitable he though for this bout, he breaks it of the tree and swings it at the trunk of it, breaking it in half.
Shera stand normally and asks, “can I ask a few questions before we fight?”
Nodding his head, he utters “sure.” picking one that was good to use.
She asks, “do you have memories at all, since you can't remember your names?”
Again, he nods his head saying “yes, I do somewhat.”
Rolling her eyes she repeats “speak freely to me, gabshite.”
Smiling he utters “oh is that my name?”
Shaking his head and in anger she utters “no it isn't, now answer me.”
Smirking he says “yea I do remember bits and pieces about my past, its somewhat hazy, obviously not my name because I've been trying to think of that all last night, here’s the thing I can only remember, me screaming seeing a light come closer as if it was about to hit me, and the last thing i do remember is me going limp falling on you, sorry about that.”
Shera stays silent for a moment; she wants to ask a question but is conserned about the answer, giving a sigh she decides to ask it anyways after a moment of hezitation, “ok tell me then about summoned stuff I mean, what happens now with you?”
The human sits under the tree looking at her peeling the bark of the wood, “It fully depends on what you want, if you want something done and I'm not willing to do it order me to. And be very specific in what you want, if you, let's say, want someone... I don't know, say captured but not killed specifically say that, or if you want someone protected and not hurt say that, because if you give me free rein, that's just, it... I can do anything, now of course that just me guessing but.” he says throwing his hand up.
Narrowing her eyes she looks away in contemplation, she then after a moment of thinking gives a sigh once more and goes to a branch ripping it off the tree, the size of a longsword and points it to the human saying, “ok we are going to duel and the person that's standing is the winner, ok.”
Nodding his head he puts the stick on the floor pulling himself up standing saying “best weapon in the world is a stick.”
Putting two hands on the stick like as if she was holding a real sword, she points the stick at the human. While the human stood holding the staff horizontally down below his waist his arms relaxed.
Seconds pass with them both standing there sizing each other up, wondering who will move first, the human takes a step, but Shera felt annoyed of waiting, so she thrusted at his chest, with him razing his stick hitting it while he stepped back.
And she keeps being the aggressor in the fight, forcing him to keep taking steps back defending, eventually his back was up against the tree, with Shera swinging heavily and again the human ducked under her swing, the stick hits into the tree breaking but not before leaving a massive dent in a large trunk of the tree.
Making the top half fall into the others behind it, the human smiles in shock saying, “I can see the move but i can't react that quick, darn it.”
Shera simply says, “where not finished yet.” holding one end of the stick out to the human throat, though she thought nearly no humans can see a Tieflings sticks, this one is interesting.
Looking at her stick she throws it behind herself and goes to the fallen tree breaking of another stick, seeing an opening the human went on the offence, Shera easily defending his attacks, her mind starts to wonder thinking on what name to give him.
She went through many names like Katherine did, but none suited him. But she realized something as she was thinking, somehow she was losing strength, like he was steeling the strength from her, but she sees he might not even know he is doing this.
Deciding to get her head back in the fight she starts to counter him, and so she hits the sword away and aims for his shoulder hitting it rather hard but not hard enough to break it but to leave a bruise.
It made him take two steps back making his arms feel numb, surprisingly she felt it also in the same spot that she hit him in.
They both drop there stick as they where unable to continue holding them, she holds her shoulder saying, “why do I get hurt, when I hit you?”
The human thinks for a moment, then his eyes widen remembering something, he utters “oh, what did you use for the summoning?”
Nervous now of what she did she hesitantly murmurs “my blood, doesn't everybody.”
Smacking his lips together he remarks “no, no you didn't, did you?”
Nodding her head in acknowledgement.
He continues “summoning doesn't work like that, the way summoning works, is that you give a piece of yourself, did you not read the passage in the book of, of... anyway, I'll explain it the best way I can, you give a piece of yourself, let's say a finger, and that there is a catalyst of everything that that summoned is. So many people cut that finger off afterwards, and that finger would take all the pain, and everything that that summoned would be delt, you get me, but you used your blood, and I can't say if that's the right thing but what do I know.”
Nodding her head she understands, saying as she grabs the stick poking him “I ah, though of a name for you, Hannibal.”
with that sentence said, Hannibal body starts to glow gold for a moment to the confusion of Shera, Hannibal looks at his hands and arms noticing it also.
The golden glow diminished moments later with Shera asking, “what the... what happened?”
Hannibal responded confused also, “I don't know but if i had to guess it because you gave me a name.”
she asks, “and that warrants that?”
Smiling slightly, he says “it's just the way it works, i guess.”
Throughout all of this, a fly stood on a tree watching all the things play out, the fly then fly's off, as both Hannibal and Shera, walk back to camp.
Meanwhile back at camp out of the tarp walked Angus seeing no one. Giving a sigh he rubs his eyes thinking in anger, must I do all the work around the camp, shaking his head he walks to the burnt out fire cleaning up the ashes, throwing it of the cliff, with that done he goes to the chopping block picking up an axe and starts to chop sticks, for the fire tonight.
As he continued chopping out walked the elder slowly hobbling and looking at the sun content with the days that's in it. Angus looks up seeing her saying, “good day elder, hope you slept well.”
The elder turns around nodding her head uttering “I did, I hear you didn't, you stayed up watching that thing.”
Angus drops the axe and goes to a tree with long thin logs stand up against the trunk, he picks three and brings them back to where he was chopping, not wanting to chop them however he planed to do something else.
He then walks past the elder, with the elder unsure what he was up to, he goes into his tarp grabbing a knife from inside, heading back to the chopping block placing one of the sticks on it, he drives the knife directly in the middle of it pushing down as hard as he could cutting it in two.
Next, he grabs the second log slightly smaller, doing the same cutting it in two, after that he grabs the third cutting it in smaller pieces, a smile formed on his face as he was content doing this.
The elder just watches him as he tries to hurry, once all was cut up, he walks off to his tarp once more grabbing rope and goes back to the logs picking up two tying the tip of the first log he cut making a v shape.
As he was making it, he says “I stayed up so that human wouldn't do anything to us as we slept.”
He then flipped it around picking up one of the smaller pieces putting it across the v shape, he did it twice, one just below the other, next he tied two pieces of wood the same with the v shaped one, he places the second v shaped piece in-between the two small pieces creating a chair for the elder to sit.
Shaking her head she utters “oh that's no human.”
Narrowing his eyes he looks at the elder asking “what do you mean he no human?”
The elder coughs saying again “whatever that thing is, it's not human....”
Concerned he just stays quiet and goes back to chopping sticks and the elder sat there looking out at the horizon falling asleep.
Later that day as Angus sat on the log cutting small wood for kindling, to placing them on the fire, then studently he hears rustling, so he looks up seeing Kaira and Samson.
He gives a smile as Kaira ran up shouting "uncle!" with Angus dropping everything to pick her up and placing her on his knee.
“How is my favorite niece.”
She says with excitedly “me and da where fighting.”
He looks at Samson narrowing his eyes in both in anger and indifference he gives a sigh asking hiding his disappointment “did you get any food for the feast tonight?”
Samson shakes his head meaning no, as he did that more rustling could be heard from behind them, they all look around seeing Shera and Hannibal, to the disgust of Angus.
